This is my Yamaha C3X SH 6'1" grand piano. It is a fantastic and satisfying piano to play, and it also offers some amazing technology.
The SH stands for Silent Hybrid. It allows the player to disconnect the piano's hammers and play silently through headphones. I also connected mine to external speakers. It becomes a digital instrument that can connect to mobile devices to utilize various musical apps. It can also allow you to play different sounds like organ, harpsichord, strings or electric pianos. It is great for when you want to practice without disturbing others.
I have an additional hybrid piano, my Yamaha NU1 which also allows students to play with headphones or connect to apps for music theory, games, recording or composing. (Note to singers: This piano is fantastic for making accompaniment tracks!)
This is my beloved-loved Yamaha U1. This is a traditional studio upright piano and I often play duets with my students from this piano.
I also have several keyboards and synthesizers that I swap around to allow students to learn about electronic music, MIDI and show them the fun stuff keyboards can do.
